Chicago Cubs Make It 15 out of 30 for ScoutAdvisor Corporation

TAMPA, Fla. – (May 8, 2008) – The 2007 National League Central Champion Chicago Cubs have just added a powerful web-based search and reporting tool to their front office technology mix: ScoutAdvisor® DataPro. In so doing, they have increased ScoutAdvisor Corporation’s market share in the Major League Baseball (MLB) scouting and information software business to 15 clubs, or 50% penetration.

In plenty of time before the Major League Trade Deadlines, the Cubs chose this fully relational, web-based application to enable them to streamline their analysis of existing and prospective players through simultaneous cross-database searching and reporting of their proprietary professional scouting data and transactional data from MLB, as well as statistical data from Major League Baseball Advanced Media (MLBAM) and other STATS providers.

“DataPro will make it much more thorough and efficient for the Cubs in combining all of their public and proprietary professional player data into each individual search. A seemingly infinite number of combinations can be used to produce the comprehensive player reports the Cubs desire in assisting them to make the right decisions during this critical summer trading period”, said Michael Morizio, CEO, ScoutAdvisor Corporation.

Featuring a .NET framework and built on an industry-standard Microsoft Enterprise SQL Server platform, DataPro integrates seamlessly into the ScoutAdvisor® flagship scouting and baseball information system, the IBM PROS scouting system, as is the situation with the Cubs, or any other MLB team’s proprietary system. It enables general managers and front office staff to build pitcher or position player reports through relational searches that combine data from every information source a team has at its disposal. Among these sources are a club’s proprietary pro and amateur player evaluations, biographical, transactional and contract information provided daily by MLB and daily batting, pitching and fielding statistics from MLBAM.

About ScoutAdvisor® DataPro:

  • Sorts and filters on any data element and allows comprehensive searching and sorting in any combination across all Major League and Minor League player information
  • Allows searches and reports to be saved for later viewing and recurring use
  • Allows searches to be shared for viewing by other front office staff members
  • Features a customizable dashboard so the data displayed matches an individual user’s preferences
  • Produces any number of Summary Reports on selected players directly into individual PDF files
  • Provides convenient and secure individual logins for multiple users
  • Combines proprietary and public data into unified custom reports
  • Keeps data secure, safe and accessible 24x7x365
